Description

Liquid flux is a chemical cleaning agent used in the soldering process to facilitate the joining of metal surfaces, especially in electronics and plumbing.

🔧 Purpose of Liquid Flux:

  • Removes oxidation from metal surfaces.

  • Prevents re-oxidation during the soldering process.

  • Improves wetting of solder by reducing surface tension.

  • Promotes strong and reliable solder joints.

📦 Types of Liquid Flux:

  1. Rosin-Based Flux: Traditional, used in electronics. Non-corrosive and removable.

  2. Water-Soluble Flux: Easy to clean, but can be more corrosive if not cleaned properly.

  3. No-Clean Flux: Leaves minimal residue and usually doesn’t require cleaning.

  4. Acid-Based Flux: Used in plumbing and metalworks (not suitable for electronics due to corrosiveness).

🔥 How It’s Used:

  • Applied to metal surfaces before soldering.

  • Heats up during soldering, activates to clean the metal.

  • Helps the solder flow smoothly and bond well.
